Tata Motors' CV sales zoom 50% in Dec

Tata Motors today reported 37% growth in total sales (including exports) in December at 48,792 units as against 35,598 units sold in December 2005.

According to a release issued by Tata Motors, domestic sales of commercial vehicles were 28,179 units in December 2006 - an increase of 50% over 18,730 vehicles sold in December last year.

Medium and heavy commercial vehicles (M&HCV) sales stood at 17,274 units, a growth of 55% over December 2005. Light commercial vehicles (LCV) sales totalled 10,905 units, an increase of 43%.

Passenger vehicle sales increased 27% to 16,515 units in December 2006. The Indica sold 10,588 units, a growth of 52%. The Indigo family registered sales of 2,077 units, a decline of 24.6%. The Sumo and Safari accounted for sales of 3,850 units, a growth of 16% over the same period last year.

The company's sales from exports rose 7% in December at 4,098 units as compared to 3,831 units in the same month in 2005.

Cumulative sales for 2006 (till December 2006) increased 33% to 4,07,452 units.
