Tata Motors' global sales up 9% in March

Tata Motors today said its global sales in March increased by 9% to 1,10,785 units over the same month previous fiscal.

The company, which had earlier in the day issued a statement saying its sales grew by 1% during the month, corrected it later.

"There is a change in the percentage of growth from last year. It is a growth of 9% and not 1% as mentioned in the earlier release," the company said.

For the entire 2010-11, the company's total global sales jumped by 24% to 10,81,245 units over the previous fiscal, Tata Motors said in a statement.

During March, 2011, sales of luxury brands from Jaguar Land Rover were at 24,101 units, up 2% from the same period a year ago, it added.

 

While sales of luxury sedans of Jaguar brand declined by 19% last month to 3,772 units, Land Rover sales jumped by 8% to 20,329.
    
Tata Motors' total passenger vehicles sales stood at 53,971 units in March, 2011.
    
Commercial vehicles sales were up by 19% to 56,814 units from the same month last year, it added.
    
The Tata Motors Group global sales comprise of Tata, Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera range of commercial vehicles, Tata passenger vehicles along with the distributed brands in India, Jaguar and Land Rover.
    
During 2010-11, the total passenger vehicle sales increased by 24% at 5,68,976 units. Commercial vehicle sales jumped by 24% at 5,12,269 units in the last fiscal.
