Tata Motors reported a 22.5% rise in sales for January 2005 at 39,000 units against 31,840 units in the same month last year. The company's sales for the period April-January 2005 has increased by 28% to 3,18,156 units including exports, as against 2,48,744 vehicles sold in the same period last year, the company said in release. The sale of the company's flag ship brand -- the Indica -- for January 2005 grew by 32% to 10,650 units, crossing the 10,000 mark for the first time. Cumulative Indica sales for the period April-January 2005 grew by 32% to 85,313 units crossing the last fiscal's full year sales of 80,194 units. In the passenger vehicles segment, the sale of Indigo for January 2005 grew by 11% to 3,342 units while the cumulative sales for the April-January 2005 grew by 38% to 31,203 units as against last fiscal's full year sales of 27,973 units. Sale of Sumo and Safari for January 2005 was 4,062 units, a growth of 12% over the same period last fiscal while cumulative sales for April- January 2005 was 26,534 units, a growth of 8% over the last fiscal. The company's exports rose by 48% to 3,943 units as against 2,668 units in January 2004 while the cumulative exports for the period April-January 2005 was 23,242 units as against 17,736 units in the same period last year, an increase of 31%. |
