Tata Motors today reported a 15% drop in passenger vehicle sales in July to 12,993 units. Overall sales, including commercial vehicles, increased 3.7% to 31,170 units as against 30,057 units sold in July 2004. "The company's sales were adversely affected to a great extent as two of its largest markets, Gujarat and Maharashtra, suffered from floods and unprecedented rains," an official release said today. Without giving comparative figures for July 2004, the release said Indica sales stood at 7,369 units in July 2005. The company sold 3,101 units of Indigo and 2,523 units of Sumo and Safari. Cumulative passenger vehicle sales for the first four months of the current fiscal stood at 54,185 units - a decline of 3.3%, the release added. |
