Press Tryst of India Mumbai

Ratan Tata-led Tata Motors today launched its new multi-purpose diesel vehicle 'Venture' priced in the range of Rs 4-5-lakh (ex-showroom Thane district near Mumbai) here.

The vehicle comes with a warranty of two years or 75,000 km. It will be available across 24 dealerships (13 passenger car dealerships and 11 commercial vehicle dealerships) in the first phase across Maharashtra.

"We launched the product in Rajasthan early this month and now we have launched it in Maharashtra. Demand for it is good in Rajasthan. We will launch Venture in other states soon," Tata Motors Head (Marketing and Sales LCV) Anil Kapur told reporters here.

The Venture will be available in 5, 7 and 8-seater options in 3-row front facing configuration and in a range of 5 colours and 3 trim levels. It is powered by a 1.4-litre turbo diesel engine.

"The Venture is a multi-purpose vehicle. This is cost effective and customer-friendly and we hope that it will be a great success in Maharashtra. We have developed this product for family as well as business purposes," Kapur said, adding, "We have focused on safety and luxury features in the vehicle."

The Venture is manufactured in the company's Uttarakhand facility. Once demand picks up pan-India, the company may manufacture Venture from its Sanand facility.

"We have not yet decided on Sanand. We will continue to make it from our Uttarakhand facility. Once demand picks up, we will decide whether to manufacture it from our Sanand facility," he said.

"We expect this MPV will add more market share to our company in future," he said.
