Tata Motors sales spurt 39% in Oct

Automobile major Tata Motors' total sales including exports rose 39 per cent in October to 26,862 units compared with 19,306 vehicles in the same period of the previous year.

 
Sales during April-October were up 43.6 per cent at 1,65,384 vehicles against 1,15,182 units in October last year.

 
In a statement, Tata Motors said its total commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 12,862 units in October, up 30 per cent from the same month a year earlier.

 
Total commercial vehicle sales in the first seven months of fiscal 2003-04 increased 40.8 per cent to 77,035 units over 54,698 units sold in the same period of last fiscal.

 
Medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales for the first seven months of the year stood at 50,9975 numbers (37,460 numbers last year), representing a growth of 36 per cent. Light commercial vehicle sales at 26,060 (17,238 numbers last year) grew by 51.2 per cent.

 
Domestic sales at its passenger car division rose 37.6 per cent to 12,263 units in October, taking cumulative sales in the first seven months of fiscal 2003-04 to 79,238 units, a growth of 43 per cent.

 
It sold 7,200 Indicas and 2,285 units of the Indigo in October. For the first seven months, the company sold 47,103 Indicas, a growth of 11.5 per cent on a year-on-year basis.

 
Utility vehicle sales at 2,778 numbers in October have grown 61.6 per cent with cumulative sales of utility vehicles at 16,633 numbers showing a growth of 25.7 per cent.

 
Sumo has registered a growth of 25.5 per cent in the fiscal, while the Safari has grown by 29 per cent.

 
Total exports in October totalled 1,737 vehicles, compared with 506 units a year earlier.
