Tata Motors Sales Up 37% In August

Tata Motors has recorded a 37 per cent jump in vehicle sales in August 2003 at 24,831 units, compared with 18,125 units in the corresponding period last year.

The cumulative sales for the April-August 2003 were also up 43 per cent at 11, 990 units from 77,026 units sold in the corresponding period of 2002.

Sales of commercial vehicles for August 2003 were 11,990 units, a 53.5 per cent improvement as compared with the figures for the corresponding month of the previous year.

Within the commercial vehicles segment the August 2003 sales of the light commercial vehicles (LCV) posted a 66 per cent increase and the medium and heavy vehicles posted a 48 per cent improvement over the sales made in the same period last year.

 

Cumulative sales for the April-August 2003 period in the commercial vehicles segment rose 38.6 per cent when compared with the sales for the April-August 2002 period.

The passenger vehicle segment grew by 23.5 per cent with a total sale of 11,675 units in August 2003.

Cumulative sales for the April-August 2003 period were up in this segment too with an increase of 44.8 per cent as compared with the sales for the corresponding period of 2002.
