Tata Power has said its initiatives have helped in imparting computer literacy to more than 900 students in and around Mundra in Gujarat, where the company is operating the 4,000 MW power project.
The country's largest private power producer, through its subsidiary Coastal Gujarat Project Ltd (CGPL), is developing the Mundra Ultra Mega Power Project.
The initiative 'Project Sujaan', "aimed at formalising education system through the added value of computer literacy has been successful in educating more than 900 students in Mundra, Kutch," Tata Power said in a statement.
'Project Sujaan's is being implemented by CGPL through an agreement with the Hole-in-the-Wall Education Ltd -- a joint venture between NIIT and the International Finance Corp.
The project initiated learning stations in the villages, where the students were given training on innovations in technology hardware/software design, among others.
The first unit of Mundra UMPP was commissioned in March and the second 800 MW unit is expected to be commissioned in August.
