Tata Power net up 16% at Rs 118 cr

Tata Power reported a 16 per cent rise in its net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2005 at Rs 118 crore against Rs 102 crore posted in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

The company's total revenues increased to Rs 1,099 crore for the reporting quarter against R1,087 crore posted in Q1-FY05, the company said in a release here.

The power generating company's sales volume increased by 7 per cent to 3,617 million units (mus) with sales volume in Mumbai licence area growing by 10 per cent to 2,983 mus.

Tata Power's trading subsidiary. Tata Power Trading Company, sold 191 mus in the reporting quarter and had its trading license upgraded to the open category from the earlier 100 mus category, it added.
