Country's biggest private power producer Tata Power today said it would bid for more ultra mega power projects (UMPPs) but wanted complete transparency in bidding documents to avoid a Sasan-like situation.
"Tata Power would be very keen to bid for the (upcoming) UMPPs provided the subject matter is clear and they are not left for subsequent dispensations," a company official said.
At present, Tata Power's generation capacity stands at 3,000 Mw. "In addition to this, another 10,000 Mw is under construction... We would be a 25,000-Mw company by 2015," he said.
The company is currently executing the 4,000-Mw UMPP at Mundra in Gujarat and the first unit of the project is likely to be commissioned in the next two years.
Tata Power had objected to the government's decision to allow Reliance Power to divert surplus coal from the Sasan UMPP in Madhya Pradesh to another of its project in the state saying such parameters should be made clear in the bid document itself for investors to take right decision before bidding for UMPPs.
Power Ministry has planned to set up 13 such UMPPs, which would help bring down the country's electricity deficit. Power Finance Corp (PFC) the nodal agency for these projects has already allotted four such projects to the developers.

Three projects, one each at Sasan (MP), Krishnapatnam (AP) and Tilaiya (Jharkhand) have been bagged by Reliance Power.
PFC would soon invite proposals for three more UMPPs to be set up in Tamil Nadu, Orissa and Chhattisgarh.
An EGoM (Empowered Group of Ministers) in August, 2008, had allowed Reliance to use excess coal from the mines allotted for the Sasan project to its Chitrangi project.
Tata Power had approached the Delhi High Court challenging the government's decision but could not get favourable verdict and approached the apex court soon after.
