Tata Power Company, India's largest integrated private power utility, today unveiled its first rural business process outsourcing (BPO) facility at Khopoli in Maharashtra under the aegis of Mannat Foundation, the community initiative arm of the company.
Situated close to the Tata Power Hydro Generation plant, the 120 seater call centre aims to provide alternative employment to the youth of rural India. Initially, the call centre will employ 47 call agents, who have been selected and hired from Khopoli, Lonavla and the adjoining catchment areas and will be further scaled up to 250 agents by the end of the current fiscal, said the company in a statement.
The Khopoli BPO is the first venture of Mannat Foundation and it has tied up with Tata Business Support Services (TBSS).
