Tata Sky, a joint venture between the Tata Group and Star, has forged an exclusive alliance with Hyderabad-based 24x7guru.com to offer educational services on the DTH platform. 24x7guru.com, an online diagnostic and self-assessment tool launched by Learnsmart India in July this year, will provide content for Tata Sky's Active Learning, a quiz-based educational service covering mathematics, general knowledge and science for children in the age group of 7-11 years. The interactive self-assessment tool on Tata Sky's DTH platform will ask 50 new questions every day that can be easily navigated with the help of the remote. Children are also provided with correct answers and individual score cards, Sanjiv Gupta, director, Learnsmart, said today. "The service would initially be offered free to our subscribers. We are contemplating charging a nominal fee of about Rs 4 per month at a later stage. Also on the cards is the introduction of a similar educational service for children in the age group of 12-18," Vikram Mehra, chief marketing officer, Tata Sky, said. Tata Sky, which currently offers over 140 channels and interactive services, has a subscriber base of 1 million since inception in August 2006. Learnsmart, an e-learning company, is a joint venture initiative by Hyderabad-based BodhTree Consulting, and Unified Council, a provider of educational assessment services. |
