Tata Sponge to up capacity to 5.40 lakh TPA

Tata Sponge Iron board at their meeting held on July 14, 2005, have approved the installation of 4th kiln of 1,50,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) capacity and a captive power generation facility of 18.5 MW capacity.

According to a release issued by Tata Sponge Iron to the BSE, the sponge iron manufacturing capacity of the company will increase from 3,90,000 TPA (of which 1,50,000 TPA currently under implementation) to 5,40,000 TPA.

The company is planning to enhance the sponge iron manufacturing capacity to 8,40,000 TPA in a phased manner. Further the captive power generation facility will increase to 44.5 MW (including the captive power plant of 18.5 MW currently under implementation), the release said.
