Tata Steel sales higher by 31%

Tata Steel has recorded a 39 per cent increase in the sales of long products, used by the construction industry, in the month of April at Jamshedpur Works, over the same period last year.

Flat products, used primarily by the auto and consumer durables sectors, registered a 27 per cent increase in sales. Overall sales were higher by 31 per cent.

Hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel production also increased significantly over the corresponding month of last year. 

Hot metal production stood at 579,000 tonnes, an increase of 30 per cent, crude steel at 503,000 tonnes, a 22 per cent increase, saleable steel at 516,000 tonnes, was higher by 30 per cent.

 

Tata Steel shares were up 3.5% at Rs 280 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, in afternoon trade.
