Tata Steel and Tokyo-based Nippon Steel Hardfacing Company (NSH) have signed an agreement, which entails the Indian steel major to use the latter's welding technology.

The agreement was signed by Tata Steel Chief Operating Officer H M Nerurkar and NSH Director and President Yasuo Hidaka.

The welding technology, which would be used for surface conditioning of steel rolls, enhances the resistance to wear, corrosion and thermal shock of steel.

The agreement provides for training of Tata Steel’s personnel in Japan, sending NSH’s specialists to Tata Steel for experience sharing and training and supply of special welding equipment and consumables.

The agreement allows both companies to share feasible techniques and implement them for mutual benefit.
