Steel maker Tata Steel is exploring possibilities for supplying skin panels to the world's largest car maker Toyota's upcoming 'strategic' small car in India, to be launched by 2011.

Besides, the Tata group firm would also start supplying skin panels to another Japanese car giant Nissan.

According to a senior Tata Steel official, the company is in discussion with Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), the Indian joint venture of the Japanese car giant with the Kirloskar Group, for supplying skin panels.

"We are talking to Toyota for supplying skin panels for the company's (Toyota's) new small car to be launched in India," he added.

TKM is investing Rs 3,200 crore in setting up its second manufacturing facility in Bangalore for rolling out a 'strategic' small car in the country by early 2011.

The official also said the company would start supplying skin panels to Nissan, which is constructing a car facility in association with French carmaker Renault in Chennai.

"Nissan has got permission from its headquarters to source skin panels for its Indian operations from Tata Steel," he added.
