MIDC readies acquisition process.
Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has reserved 1,500 hectares (3,750 acres) of land for Tata Group at Sinnar, just 30 kms away from Nashik, for its future projects, with the land acquisition process set to begin in next couple of weeks.
After acquiring around 1,000 hectares (2,500 acres) multi-product Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to be developed by Indiabulls Real Estate at Sinnar, MIDC has again readied to commence acquisition process for 2,500 hectares for industrial development and issued notification in this regard.
“Out of 2,500 hectares, MIDC has reserved 1,500 hectares of land for Tata Group for its future projects and land acquisition will begin in the next couple of weeks,” said sources close to the development, refusing to divulge further details regarding projects to be implemented by Tata Group.
The group had been demanding land at Nashik for the last two years and had held several talks with the MIDC, but in vain. It had recently held talks with India Bulls too to sell its 1,000-hectare SEZ at Sinnar which the latter refused.
Sources said Tata Motors of Tata Group has major expansion plans with four new manufacturing facilities in the next four years in the country. Even as Mumbai-Nashik-Pune belt is being developed as auto hub in the country, Nashik is being considered as an ideal location by the group.

Besides hosting adequate skilled manpower required for auto industry, Nashik offers land at low cost with suitable climate. Considering this fact, Tata Motors plans to set up one of its four proposed manufacturing facilities at Sinnar.
As no land is available at Nashik, MIDC had taken initiative to develop the industrial area near Nashik.
As part of this, MIDC has concentrated on Sinnar, Gonde (Igatpuri), Dindori and Malegaon towns in the district for land acquisition. MIDC is planning to acquire around 5,000 hectares (12,500 acres) of land for industrial development in Nashik district.
Out of 5,000 hectares, 2,500 hectares will be acquired at Sinnar, while rest of the 2,500 hectares are to be acquired at Dindori, Gonde and Malegaon in Nashik district, sources added.
