Tata Motors is exploring the possibility of supplying compressed natural gas (CNG) buses to the Philippines. |
This was revealed today by executives of Tata Sons, promoters of Tata Motors, at a meeting with a delegation which came from the Philippines. |
Sources in the know of the development said Tata Motors' move to supply CNG buses was in line with the Philippines government's alternate fuel programme. |
They said, in addition to Tata Motors, two other foreign companies had also expressed interest to join the programme. |
The delegation invited the Tata group to take part in the country's power industry as "there was enough opportunity in wind and solar power". |
Tata Power, the group's power utility, would consider the proposal and might sent a delegation to the country, S Ramakrishnan, executive director, said. The 25-member delegation is headed by the former president of Philippines, Fidel V Ramos. |
