TDSAT asks DD to restore Zee, Enter 10 on DTH

Slamming public broadcaster Prasar Bharti for “illegally” removing channels of the Zee group and a regional broadcaster from its DTH platform DD Direct, broadcast tribunal TDSAT has directed it to restore them.

“The respondent Prasar Bharti, in disregard of the regulations, illegally discontinued the carriage of the petitioner’s channels.“We accordingly direct Prasar Bharti to restore the two channels on payment by the petitioner of the carriage fee of Rs 60 lakh each,” said the Telecom Disputes’ Settlement and Appellate Tribunal bench, headed by Justice Arun Kumar. The Bench also directed Prasar Bharti to restore two channels of the Zee group, Zee Smile and Zee Jagaran, and channels of a regional broadcaster Enter 10 Telivision on DD Direct within two days of payment of the carriage fee of Rs 60 lakh.
