Staffing company TeamLease Services has been awarded the project to train and place 60,000 tribal youth by the Gujarat Government.

The project will extend over the next five years and the costs involved will be incurred by the Tribal Department, making the services free for youth. The project is expected to go live by July 2010.

The recent acquisition of Indian Institute of Job Training (IIJT), a vocational training company, by TeamLease, the employability of the candidates is ensured, according to a release from the company.

"Gujarat is among India's most progressive states and there are several opportunities for job seekers here. The issue among the tribal population in Gujarat is the same as with the thousands of unemployed in India. Most lack the necessary skills required to take advantage of the opportunities in the state and elsewhere and to be gainfully employed. TeamLease-IIJT will accurately assess and provide sound training for the candidates, thereby increasing their placement chances as well as their productivity at the work place. On a wider plane, this project can help offset various development-related challenges in tribal communities that have become an important national issue today," said Ashish Prasad, CEO, IIJT.

According to Neeti Sharma, Vice President, TeamLease Services, "We are happy to be associated with this prestigious project with Government of Gujarat. This will help bring quality training, employability assessment and placement services to sections of society which till now had little or no access to such services. TeamLease has an avowed vision of 'Putting India to Work' using the 3Es— employment, employability and education and this project exemplifies that vision."
