Telelogic, the Swedish provider of solutions for advanced systems and software, on Monday announced that it was setting up its product development lab in Bangalore.

"The lab will be Telelogic's 4th product development lab, the others being in the US, UK and Sweden," said Anders Lidbeck, president and CEO, Telelogic.

Founded in 1983, Telelogic is a leading global provider of solutions for advanced systems and software development. Telelogic's software tools automate and support practices throughout the application development lifecycle. Hence, the development teams are free to concentrate on core competencies and apply their skills to value-added tasks, added Lidbeck.

The Bangalore lab will initially focus on performing test and quality assurance of Telelogic's integrated product offering. The Bangalore set-up will initially start off with 20-50 engineers, depending on its needs. "Telelogic's operation in India is the fourth largest in Telelogic group," said Lidbeck.

Telelogic currently has a sales and support team and a global support and global telemarketing operation in India.

"We feel that we have the experience and infrastructure in place to take this a step further by setting up a product development lab in Bangalore to complement our development labs in Europe and the US," added Lidbeck.

"Bangalore is no longer value for money. Eastern Europe and China are competitively priced. But, the talent and infrastructure available in Bangalore is what has brought Telelogic here," said Lidbeck.

Bangalore set-up will make up 10-15 per cent of its Asia operations. Lidbeck declined to give out any numbers on the investment in the project.

"The product development lab will help Telelogic further Telelogic's commitment to the Indian market," said Sidharth Malik, managing director.
