Teradata, a division of NCR Corporation, has set up its global consulting centre (GCC) in Mumbai that will deliver datawarehousing solutions to its customers in India as well as globally. |
Teradata is a player in the enterprise data warehousing, analytic applications and datawarehousing services. |
This will be the company's third GC, the other two being in China and Pakistan. Teradata's chief technology officer Stephen Brobst said, "We have been conducting research and development along with our partners Satyam and Wipro in India for several years now. The GCC is the next step, which will allow us to offer not only R&D services but also technical services." |
While the company does not have its own R&D centre in India, the GCC can have a R&D division in it. The company is currently firming up the management resources. |
Commenting on the Indian market, Brobst said the company had witnessed a three-digit growth in its revenues last year. |
He said, "The market in India is matured to a point where enterprises have recognised the importance of integrating the datawarehousing strategy, which in turns adds to our strength. The scale is important and our technology caters to this. This is reflected in our growth." |
While declining to divulge any financials details, he said the company was positive about its growth this year too. He added, "Setting up of the centre in India now is an indication of maturity of the market and our growth prospects." |
Teradata focuses primarily on the telecommunication, banking and insurance manufacturing. The company's customers include LIC, Bharti, Hutch, ICICI Bank, Prudential etc. |
In addition to setting up this centre, the company has also introduced its business intelligence (BI) user group community in the country. The aim of this group will be to assist in the development of the Indian BI market and provide the latest information on business intelligence strategies. |
