Texprocil seeks special package for made-ups sector

Textile ministry had announced a special package of Rs 6,000 cr for garments, but had excluded made-ups

The textile industry has urged the government to extend the recently announced special package for garments sector to made-up sector also.

While welcoming appointment of Smriti Irani as the new Union Minister of Textiles and Ajay Tamta as the Minister of State for Textiles, R K Dalmia, chairman of the industry body Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (Texprocil), said, "The special package recently approved for the garment sector should also be extended to the made-up sector and the value chain under her dynamic leadership in the new textile policy to be announced."

The Ministry of Textiles announced a special package of Rs 6,000 crore for the garments sector of which the made-up sector remained excluded.
