It was a week of dramatic events. On the political front there was drama as the Tamil Nadu police swung into action and arrested former chief minister K Karunanidhi and two union ministers, Murasoli Maran and T Baalu.
On the financial front the Unit Trust of India finally admitted that US-64 was in deep trouble and ordered that it would suspend buybacks for six months. UTI chief P S Subramanyam was forced to put in his papers two days after the announcement.
