Delhi-based technology company, Cube26, has raised a capital of Rs 50 crore in a seed round of funding led by Tiger Global and ecommerce marketplace Flipkart. Cube26 plans to utilise the funds to leverage its software expertise across devices and expand its team across the stack.

Cube26, formerly known as PredictGaze, started its operations in 2012 in California. It has developed varied applications like Blink to Capture and QuickLook to empower original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with a clear competitive edge, besides developing a next-generation technology that allows devices to recognise users, interpret human gestures and understand their emotions.

"With our software focus and product-led monetisation approach, we are confident of providing unique user experiences across form factors and devices to Indian consumers. We want to bridge the technology gap in India and build products and solutions which are accessible and intuitive in nature," Saurav Kumar, co-founder and chief executive officer of Cube26, said in a statement.

"Technology innovation will be key to India's growth and we are looking for the next big software innovation from India. And, this investment is a step towards the same. Cube26 has demonstrated a robust business expansion plan behind innovations that we believe can win," said Nishant Verman, head (corporate development), Flipkart.

According to Forrester Research's latest Asia Pacific Tech Market Outlook report, while India is just the fifth-largest tech market in Asia-Pacific, its tech purchases will grow by more than 10 per cent, making it the fastest growth market in the region for 2015-2016.

Known for its customised Android experience and gesture technology like 'Blink to Capture' and 'Look Away to Pause' for Panasonic and Micromax respectively, Cube26's software currently resides on more than five million devices, which makes it present among 4 per cent of all mobile users in India.
