Timex Watches Ltd opened its first "Time Factory store" in Agra on Monday. Inaugurated by Salil Sadanandan, senior vice-president (Sales and Marketing) of the Timex Watches Ltd, this is the 31st Time Factory store opened by Timex countrywide. |
Talking to Business Standard on this occasion, Sadanandan said Timex was the highest selling watch in the United States, and in India too it was closing in to the number one position, having sold more than 1 billion watches worldwide. |
In India, he said, the company was planning an aggressive retail strategy across the country this year to boost it business from Rs. 100 crores in the past fiscal year to 200 crores by 2008-end. |
He said the company was aware of the huge business potential available for watches in north India, especially Uttar Pradesh which generated atleast 8-10 per cent of the total business by watch sales in the country. |
"By the end of this year, it shall have atleast 10 stores functional in north India, out of which, atleast four shall be in Uttar Pradesh," he added. |
He said a lot of company products had been designed keeping in mind the preferences of the consumers in UP and these products shall be displayed in the stores about to come up across the state. |
He said the "Time Factory" was an avant-garde multi-brand watch store concept and had been positioned as the coolest one-stop destination for mid-priced to premium international watch brands. |
