Tisco starts 2mt expansion at Jamshedpur

In line with its vision to become a 15 million tonne company by 2010, Tata Steel is nearing completion of the one million tonne expansion at its Jamshedpur plant and has embarked on a two million tonne expansion programme.

The company has placed an order on Outokumpu and L&T for setting up two mt iron ore sinter plant, the company said in a release.

Liquid iron production during the first quarter of the current fiscal rose by 6.5% at 1.21 mt over the comparable period of the previous fiscal, it said.

The crude steel production at 1.11 mt registered an increase of 5.3%, it said.
