Tomotaka Ishikawa, the former managing director of Yamaha India, will join Bajaj Auto as full-time advisor from April 1. According to a release issued by Bajaj Auto today, "given Bajaj Auto's strategy to be distinctly ahead by developing itself as a lifestyle brand across global markets, it believes that the availability of Mr. Ishikawa's long, varied, and proven experience in the global auto industry is well timed and would be most valuable." Ishikawa, known as a turnaround specialist, was asked to take over the India operation by Yamaha in 2005 when the company was losing market share to Hero Honda and Bajaj Auto. Under his supervision, the company developed an all-new strategy, which analysts believe will help it to regain the lost image of the company in India. Yamaha is all set to launch next-generation performance bikes in the later part of this year. |
