Toonz in deal with Impact for animated Mahabharat

Toonz Animation India, Asia's leading animation studio, has signed an MoU with Impact Vision, Mumbai-based production house, to produce a Hindi animation film based on 'Mahabharat.' It will be a musical animation in Hindi.

"Song sequences will added to it to create standard half-hour episodes for television, said P Jayakumar, chief executive officer,Toonz. Satish Mutatkar, CEO, Impact Vision, will be the creative director of the project.

"This is a very interesting project. Music will play major part in the animation," said Jayakumar. He added that the venture was unique and is part of company's initiative to encourage television shows rooted in Indian history and mythology.

Satish Mutatkar said that ' Mahabharat' was simply the greatest story ever told. The success of 'Hanuman' has shown that there is a huge family audience for animated mythological films if presented in an attractive manner.
