Top infra companies have evinced interest in the proposed Rs 500-crore international cricket stadium in Lucknow to be developed under the public-private-partnership (PPP) model.

In a pre-bid meeting held here yesterday, representatives of 14 companies, including L&T, Gammon, Sahara India, Jaypee, Omaxe, Essel Infra, Nagarjuna and former cricket player Kapil Dev’s Dev Musco Lighting had participated.

The stadium will span 117 acres in Gomti Nagar extension and well connected to the Lucknow airport, Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) vice chairman Mukesh Kumar Meshram told Business Standard.

“While, roughly half of the total land would comprise the sports complex, stadium and other sports amenities, the rest would be dedicated for commercial activities and feature a 5 star hotel, shopping arcades and group housing scheme,” he informed.

“The pre-bid was an interface to provide these companies with the first hand idea of the project and seek their preliminary suggestions,” he said.

In the first week of June, LDA has planned to convene another pre-bid meet, where some other developers would also be invited. This pre-bid meet would be chaired by UP Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC) Anoop Mishra.
