Torrent Pharma's profits grow by 38%

Torrent Pharmaceuticals limited, an Ahmedabad-based pharma major, has reported a 38 per cent increase in its net profit for the first quarter ended June 30, 2011 at Rs 103 crore as compared to Rs 74 crores during the same period last financial year.

Its operating profits (PBDIT) for the quarter stood at Rs 153 crores (previous year Rs 112 crores) showing a growth of 37 percent. The Q1 revenues were at Rs 647 crores, up by 20 per cent from Rs 541 crores of the comparable quarter last year. During the first quarter, the domestic formulation business recorded revenues of Rs 246 crores growing 10 percent on account of lower sales growth in acute therapies.

 

International revenues grew by 19 per cent to Rs 319 crores. Brazil business posted revenues of Rs 107 crores with a growth of 21 percent. Operations in Germany-based Heumann registered an impressive performance with revenue growth of 20 percent. US operations posted a revenue growth of 56 per cent.
