Torrent Pharma PAT at Rs 46 cr

Torrent Pharmaceuticals recoreded a consolidated operating profit (PBIDT) of Rs 74 crores for the first half of this fiscal, while the consolidated PAT for the period stood at Rs 46 crores.

Driven by sales in international markets, largely in Europe and Brazil, the consolidated sales of Torrent Pharmaceuticals, during the first half of the fiscal grew by 63 per cent to Rs 480 crores compared with Rs 294 crores in the corresponding period last year.

Torrent's domestic formulations business also recorded a jump of 28 per cent in sales to Rs 247 crores in the same period. The growth was driven by field force expansion carried out last year and new products flow during the first half of the year.

TVS Electronics net up at Rs 47 lakh

Computer pheripherals major TVS Electronics reported a profit after tax of Rs 47 lakh in the second quarter ended September 30 as against Rs 36 lakh in the corresponding period last year. It also registered a 20 per cent growth in its revenues, which stands at Rs 70.26 crore against the corresponding period last year.

UB back in black, net at Rs 4 cr

Led by strong volume sales of flagship Kingfisher beer, United Breweries has posted a Rs 4 crore net profit for Q2 FY06 as against a net loss of Rs 50 lakh for the corresponding quarter last year. The topline has grown by 19 per cent to Rs 110.5 crore as against Rs 92.9 crore.

According to UB, the primary driver of growth during the quarter was volume which has continued to outperform the industry by 10 per cent, with growth of 24.6 per cent. Volume growth delivered by the business has been 21.5 per cent, against a market growth of 15.9 per cent.
