Torrent Power posted a 31% increase in net profit at Rs 292 crore for the second quarter ended Sptember 2011 as against Rs 223 crore a year ago.
Net sales too rose 11% to Rs 1,896 crore from Rs 1,708 crore in the same period a year ago.
The company's stock was trading at Rs 238 on Bombay Stock Exchange, up 5% at 1530 hours.
