Toshiba Transmission and Distribution (India) Private Limited (TTDI) is planning to invest Rs 200 crore in its global manufacturing plant at Hyderabad, in addition to a just completed expansion of the transformer manufacturing capacity with a similar investment size.

TTDI currently manufactures small, medium and extra high voltage transformers. The company had established its base in Hyderabad after acquiring Vijay Electricals Limited in the year 2013.

The company has just expanded production capacity by 50 per cent by adding additional lines, at an investment of $30 million (around Rs 200 crore), according to TTDI chairman and managing director Katsutoshi Toda. A further investment of Rs 200 crore has been lined up for future expansion, he said.

"The comprehensive upgradation and expansion is as per our strategy of securing 20 per cent share of the Indian T&D market in the coming years. We will also reinforce TTDI as a core T&D production base for other major markets, including Europe, ASEAN, and Africa," Toda added.
