Toyota Kirloskar Motor's Camry Hybrid

Since its launch in May this year, the company has sold over 280 units in a matter of 50 days, compared to 720 units sold in 2014

The Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) recently launched new Camry Hybrid has received encouraging response from customers across the Indian market.

Since its launch in May this year, the company has sold over 280 units in a matter of 50 days, compared to 720 units sold in 2014. The new Camry Hybrid has managed to get more than 730 customer enquiries and more than 125 pending orders, reiterating Toyota's dominance in Hybrid technology along with emphasising customers' acceptance of hybridisation as the future, the company stated.

The new luxury car is also witnessing increased demand in Tier-II markets like Pune, Kozhikode, Coimbatore and Ahmedabad thereby boosting overall sales and proves that Hybrid has found equal acceptance among the smaller cities, too.
 

The recently-announced government incentive of Rs 70,000 under FAME scheme (Union Government on April 1, 2015 launched the 'Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric' vehicles (FAME) - India Scheme) which has also aided the company in generating more enquiries and orders from customers, the company added.

"Currently, Camry Hybrid constitutes more than 80 per cent of total Camry sales showing the increased awareness and acceptance of Hybrid in India," N Raja, Director and Senior Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, TKML said. Camry Hybrid comes with Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) powertrain. Camry Hybrid's 'full hybrid' powertrain combines the performance of a 2.5 litre Atkinson cycle four - cylinder gasoline engine and a high - torque electric motor.
