Toyota Kirloskar has announced that it has sold 18,000 units of its new model Innova since its launch in mid-February of this year.

According to the company, this has become the largest selling model across MPV, Mid-size Sedan and Sedan categories during the same period.

Atsushi Toyoshima, MD, TKM said: "Innova is truly a model of the 21st century. The success of Innova is a confirmation of the belief that the Indian auto industry has matured and customers want global products. This new-generation vehicle provides performance, versatility, innovative comfort and luxury, which are at par with customer requirements internationally."

According to the company, Innova is the result of the IMV Project that broke new grounds in the way automobiles are created.

"It is built in 10 countries, including India across 3 continents: Asia, Africa and South America. Innova is the first generation vehicle on the IMV platform," the company said.

On the success of Innova, K K Swamy, deputy MD, TKM said, "Innova is a category creator in India as it addresses the contrasting needs of customers offering space with style, sophistication with reliability, elegance with sturdiness in one car. As a result, you get sedan like comfort in MPV like utility."
