Peoples' Media Initiative (PMI) and the Asiatic Society of Mumbai will hold the two-day 'Travelling Film South Asia 2006 Festival' from April 21.

Fifteen outstanding documentaries made by Indians, Pakistanis, Nepalese, Bangladeshis, Sri Lankans and South Africans will be screened at this festival, said the organisers of the festival.

The `Travelling Film South Asia', started in 1997, has provided a unique opportunity for all of South Asia's documentary-makers to gather, appreciate one another's works, and build a camaraderie in the pursuit of excellence in non-fiction film-making.

It also provides a platform for the general viewers and the film-makers to interact and build bridges.

The films to be screened were selected from a total of 190 films. The films will be screened in more than fifty cities of South Asia.

The festival will be held at the Darbar hall of the Asiatic Society and inaugurated by Manju Magoo, a blind cultural activist and singer from Mumbai, who travelled to Pakistan and performed.

The festival is open to the public and its free, they said. The opening film of the festival will be 'continuous journey' (87 minute), a India/Canada of 2004 directed by Ali Kazmi.

Others to be screened include 'Girl Song' (29 min) West Bengal/India, (2003) directed by Vasudha Joshi 'Good News' (17 min) Assam/India, (2005) directed by Altaf Mazid.
