Peoples' Media Initiative (PMI) and the Asiatic Society of Mumbai will hold the two-day 'Travelling Film South Asia 2006 Festival' from April 21. |
Fifteen outstanding documentaries made by Indians, Pakistanis, Nepalese, Bangladeshis, Sri Lankans and South Africans will be screened at this festival, said the organisers of the festival. |
The `Travelling Film South Asia', started in 1997, has provided a unique opportunity for all of South Asia's documentary-makers to gather, appreciate one another's works, and build a camaraderie in the pursuit of excellence in non-fiction film-making. |
It also provides a platform for the general viewers and the film-makers to interact and build bridges. |
The films to be screened were selected from a total of 190 films. The films will be screened in more than fifty cities of South Asia. |
The festival will be held at the Darbar hall of the Asiatic Society and inaugurated by Manju Magoo, a blind cultural activist and singer from Mumbai, who travelled to Pakistan and performed. |
The festival is open to the public and its free, they said. The opening film of the festival will be 'continuous journey' (87 minute), a India/Canada of 2004 directed by Ali Kazmi. |
Others to be screened include 'Girl Song' (29 min) West Bengal/India, (2003) directed by Vasudha Joshi 'Good News' (17 min) Assam/India, (2005) directed by Altaf Mazid. |
