Tripp Lite, a manufacturer of power protection equipment, has expanded their operations into India by partnering Hyderabad-based Rajdeep Energies as its national distributor.

US-headquartered firm, which launched its product ranges like UPS systems, line conditioners and ultra compact inverters for the Indian power market, is eyeing partnerships with resellers in five majors cities in the first phase, apart from partnering retail stores for mobility solutions.

"We had entered Indian market 17 years ago and then exited. But now the market is different in the post-liberalisation era. In the first phase, we plan to select partners and resellers in five majors cities before venturing into tier-II cities," Vipin Sharma, vice president, sales, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (EEMEA) said here on Tuesday.

In the first phase, Tripp Lite has launched a website for training sales personnel. The company will soon put in place marketing plans to raise the awareness levels, apart from setting up a central helpdesk in Hyderabad to support customers in India, said Sharma.

According to Tripp Lite, the UPS market size in India is about Rs 1,500 crore and is growing 30 per cent per year.

The inverter market in India is about Rs 1,600 crore and growing by 35 per cent on an annualised basis. Sharma said that the company aimed to have a market share of about 10 per cent in the next couple of years.

In second phase, the company plans to launch its range of mobility solutions in retail stores and also through channel partners.
