In a bid to arrest and reduce the growing gap between skilled manpower requirements and availability in telecom sector, Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) and Gujarat Electronics and Software Industries Association (GESIA) on Saturday signed an MoU for skill development.
As part of the MoU, TSSC will devise curriculum and standards for skill training and development whereas GESIA will provide industry inputs. What's more, the government of Gujarat has assured provision of capital equipment and infrastructure for setting up over 20 skill development centres for the telecom industry.
"We are planning to set up 25 such skill development centres in Gujarat that will exclusively train young professionals in various aspects of the telecom industry. Gujarat will be a benchmark for us and based on the success here, we will implement the project in other states," said J Jena, chief executive officer of TSSC.

On its part, TSSC has a target of training 80000 young professionals in the telecom sector every year through such centres.
Apart from an MoU being signed between TSSC and GESIA, five other Gujarat based organisations signed MoUs for developing viable skills ecosystem and create global standardsd in telecom sectors.
These included GlobalTech India Pvt. Ltd, Teleysia Network Pvt. Ltd, QX KPO Services Pvt. Ltd, Azure Knowledge Centre Corporation and Aditya Birla Minacs.
