Enterprise communication services provider Tulip Telecom said that it has bagged orders worth Rs 37.95 crore from Punjab for providing data connectivity services.

"Tulip has been named as the network bandwidth service provider (NBSP) for deploying data connectivity services in Punjab under the R-APDRP scheme," Tulip Telecom Chief Executive Officer Sanjay Jain said.

Re-structured Accelerated Power Development and Reform Program (R-APDRP), is a flagship programme of the government with a total outlay of Rs 51,577 crore.

Under the programme, IT companies would help power utilities from concept to commissioning for facilitating reduction of aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses through strengthening and upgradation of the transmission and distribution network.

This is the fourth R-APDRP project bagged by Tulip. Prior to this, Tulip had bagged orders from Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, with a cumulative project value of Rs 208.35 crore.

While these projects will result in a significant reduction in energy loss, it will also allow Tulip to substantially expand its network coverage, he added.

As part of the awarded projects, Tulip will supply, install and commission MPLS VPN, Internet and other connectivity services to all the project towns under the R-APDRP scheme floated by Punjab State Power Corporation, Patiala.

"The projects are required to be delivered over a period of 12-18 months and maintained over a period of three years," Jain said.
