Turkish Cargo has launched freighter operations here on Thursday from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), operated by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL).
It will operate Airbus A330-200F freighters increasing the frequency to twice in a week by next month, connecting Hyderabad and its catchment area to 260 destinations in Europe, North and Latin Americas, Africa and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries.
This is not only expected to enhance RGIA's status as a strategic logistics hub in the region but also increase Hyderabad's connectivity to strategic locations across the world, a release stated on Thursday.

"The launch of the freighter operations by Turkish Cargo comes as a significant achievement for RGIA that has already seen an increase in freighter operations in the recent past", GHIAL chief executive officer, SGK Kishore, stated in a press release.
RGIA has an integrated cargo terminal with a capacity of 150,000 tonnes annually, scalable to 1 million metric tonnes. It houses India's first Pharma Zone that offers temperature-controlled environment.
While air cargo volumes in India have grown at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.9 per cent since 2006-07, RGIA is stated to have recorded over 10 per cent CAGR, the release stated.
