TVS Elec Q4 net slips 37%

Net sales in the fourth quarter were down 32.6 per cent to Rs 52.18 crore (Rs 77.47 crore).

For the year ended March 31, 2008, net sales went down by 22.28 per cent to Rs 215.37 crore (Rs 277.14 crore). For FY08, the company reported a net profit of Rs 13.06 crore (Rs 1.85 crore).

 

During the year, the company hived off its contract manufacturing (CMS) business at Tumkur and spun off the contract customer support business into a separate company, so the the numbers were not comparable, the company said.

The company has recorded 4.5 per cent growth in sales and 20 per cent increase in EBIT of its continuing business which consists primarily of dotmatrix printers, keyboards and point-of-sale products and solutions.

The company claimed to have maintained its pole position in the dotmatrix printer market with a market share of 40 per cent.

TVS Electronics CEO Gopal Srinivasan said the company planned to grow across all product lines and expects point-of-sales machines to emerge as a significant line of business in the coming year.
