TVS Motor Company posted a growth of 5.2% in two wheeler sales for December 2015, at 1,94,066 units, as compared to 1,84,474 units sold during December 2014. The total sales of the company grew 3.9 % to 2,02,086 units during the month, compared to 1,94,481 units recorded during the same month of previous year.
Total exports during December 2015 posted a drop to 32,771 units as against 32,969 units in December previous year.
Scooter sales of the company posted a growth of 21.4% to 65,090 units in December, 2015, as against 53,613 units sold during the corresponding month of 2014. Motorcycle sales increased 1.22% to 71,435 units against 70,573 units during the period.
Two-wheeler exports grew by 5.5% with sales increasing to 25,906 units during December, 2015, from 24,556 units during the same month of previous year, while the domestic two-wheeler sales grew by 5.2% to 1,68,160 units compared to 1,59,918 units during the comparable period.
Three-wheeler sales registered a drop to 8,020 units in December, 2015, from 10,007 units during the same month of previous year.
Commenting on the third quarter sales performance, the company said that during the quarter, its sales experienced a growth of around 7 % to 7.02 lakh from 6.56 lakh units in the third quarter of 2014. Total two-wheeler sales grew by 7.8 % to 6.76 lakh units from 6.27 lakh units during the comparable period. However, three wheeler sales registered a drop to 0.26 lakh units in comparison to 0.28 lakh units in the same quarter of previous year.
