TVS Motor's profit up by 74 % in Q4 to Rs 90.52 crore

Company's cross Rs 10,000 crore mark in 2014-15

TVS Motor has reported a profit of Rs 90.52 crore during the quarter ended March 31, 2015 compared to Rs 52 crore in the year-ago period — a growth of 74 per cent.

Revenue rose 13.8 per cent to Rs 2,456.8 crore in the fourth quarter of the financial year ended March 2015 from Rs 2,159.8 crore a year ago.

Motorcycle sales increased from 197,000 units registered in the fourth quarter of 2013-14 to 221,000 units in the quarter under review. Scooter sales, too, rose from 137,000 to 166,000 units.

Two-wheeler exports rose from 67,000 units to 83,000 units; three-wheeler sales increased from 21,294 units to 26,901 units.
 

The company’s total revenue crossed the Rs 10,000-crore figure during 2014-15. Total revenue increased 26.8 per cent from Rs 7,966 crore to Rs 10,098 crore.

Profit after tax grew 33 per cent, increasing from Rs 261.6 crore to Rs 347.8 crore.

“A comprehensive product portfolio, good market acceptance of new products and consequent growth in volumes has enabled TVS Motor to post good financial results for the financial year 2014-15,” the company said in a statement.

During the year, the firm took forward the legacy of the Scooty brand, which has pioneered many innovations in its segment with the introduction of TVS Scooty Zest110, targeted at the new-age Indian woman. The company also strengthened its presence in the motorcycle segment with the introduction of TVS Star City Plus.

The company will introduce two new motorcycles this year, including TVS Victor and a high-powered premium bike. The firm has also planned upgrades of existing products to further strengthen its portfolio.
