TVS Motor Company, the third largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the country, is targeting a sales growth of 25 per cent in its two-wheelers to touch 2 million during the next financial year. During the current financial year, the company hopes to sell 1.6 million vehicles. |
Of the total sales expected in the next financial year, the company plans to sell 1 million units of its entry-level motorcycle, TVS Star. |
According to R Chandramouli, senior vice-president, TVS Motor, the company is hopeful of achieving the 2 million sales mark next year, as it is getting good response for its motorcycles, particularly for TVS Star at the entry level and TVS Apache in the premium segment. |
"We are getting huge demand for our premium bike, Apache, which is seeing a monthly sales of 15,000. We are ramping up our production levels and from the fourth quarter of the year, we will increase our sales to 20,000 units per month," he told reporters after launching the company's own lubricant oil for motorcycles here on Wednesday. |
TVS Motor launched its own engine oil for motorcycles under the brand name TVS TRU4. It also extended the warranty period for its Star motorcycle from the existing two years to five years. |
He admitted that the company is witnessing a slump in demand for its 125 cc bike, TVS Victor. Currently, the company is selling 12,000 units of TVS Victor. To arrest the fall in sales, the company is planning to introduce new upgraded versions of Victor, he said. |
