TVS Motor Company expects components brought from China to provide about 30 per cent of the overall saving of Rs 100 crore on raw material sourcing the company hopes to achieve this year. TVS Motor will, however, continue to source critical components from Indian companies, said C P Raman, president.

Raw materials make up the biggest chunk of the company's expenditure and last year a little over 98 per cent was sourced from within India.

Even after taking into account an increase in overseas sourcing this fiscal, less than 5 per cent of the overall raw material spend will be on imports, said Venu Srinivasan, the company's chairman and managing director, on the sidelines of the launch of a new motorcycle on Monday.

...ropes in MS Dhoni

TVS Motor has signed up Indian cricketer M S Dhoni to endorse its products. At the moment, the company has not yet decided on which of its brands Dhoni will endorse.

He is the second cricketer signed up by the company in the recent past. Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar endorsed the company's 'Victor' series of motorcycles. Tendulkar's contract with the company is still on.
