TVS Motors Oct sales marginally dip to 183,718 units

Two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor company reported a marginal dip on the total units sold in October.

The company sold 183,718 units in October this year as against 195,271 units in the same month last year, a press release said.

However, cumulative figures during the period April to December, 2011, grew by 12% to 1,324,077 units as against 1,184,065 units sold in the same period last year.

The company said it was confident of achieving 15% plus growth in the current financial year.

Net profit of the company for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 soared to Rs 76.51 crore up by 39.66% from Rs 54.78 crore registered during the same period of previous year.

Total income of the company for the quarter ending September 30, 2011 stood at Rs 1,991.79 crore against Rs 1,616.24 crore registered during the same period of previous year.

On the sales, during the three months period ending September 30, 2011 the company witnessed a 16% jump at 5.97 lakh units as against 5.16 lakh units sold in the corresponding period of previous year.

Sale of motorcycles during the period grew at 15% to 2.41 lakh units in reporting quarter from 2.10 lakh units in the quarter ended September 2010.

Sales of scooters grew by 27% at 1.59 lakh units from 1.25 lakh units during the corresponding quarter of previous year.

In exports, two-wheeler registered a 31% jump on the sales to 0.76 lakh units in the quarter from 0.58 lakh units in the quarter ended September 2010.

Three wheeler sales during the quarter also grew by 19% to 11,699 units for the quarter ending September 2011 from 9,826 units in the quarter ending September 2010.

The company's Indonesian subsidiary, PT TVS Motor Company, also witnessed a jump on sales to 7,837 units as against 5,315 units in the same period of previous year, it added.
