After reporting a disappointing sales tally last year, Chennai-based, India's third largest two wheeler manufacturer TVS Motors today reported a marginal increase of 3 per cent in sales in April selling 102,985 units in the domestic market.
TVS Motors, which sells motorcycles and automatic scooters, had posted total sales of 99,759 units in the domestic market during last year, it said in a release today.
However, exports of the company were affected due to the general slowdown in demand in the international market.
"The ongoing slowdown in some countries affected the company’s exports, which registered sales of 10,134 units of two wheelers in April against 10,213 units in the corresponding period of the previous year", the release stated.
The company will strengthen its presence in the premium segment with a new higher capacity motorcycle, which is slated for launch later this month. The bike will take on Bajaj Auto's Pulsar 180.
"The sporty design, outstanding ride dynamics and homegrown technology promises to make it a preferred choice for high performance seekers", the media release elaborated.
The motorcycle will be packed with features including digital speedo, trip meter and many other functions.
