The proposed manufacturing plant of TVS Motors in West Bengal hasn't been taken forward as legal issues are yet to be resolved. "There are some legal issues which need to be resolved before we can move ahead," TVS Vice-President (Sales) J S Srinivasan said here today. In 2011, TVS Motors Company had informed the West Bengal government that it was interested to manufacture two wheelers at Uluberia.

There has been an issue of demerger from Mahabharat Motors, owned by another city-based promoter.

TVS Motor is proposing to use 45 out of the total 63 acres of land of Mahabharat Motors at Uluberia. TVS is proposing to manufacture bikes in Bengal to cater to the eastern part of the country.

Asked whether the company will go ahead with its new plant if the issues with Uluberia location are not resolved, he said "This is a senior management call." Currently, TVS Motors has manufacturing facilities in Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Currently, Srinivasan said, the company is selling 20,000 units of two-wheelers per month in eastern region.
