TVS seeks upturn in 100cc with Victor successor

As a reaction to the falling sales of 100cc motorbikes, two wheeler maker TVS Motor Company India is planning a replacement for Victor - its popular offering in the segment.

The substitute is likely to enter the market by the third quarter of the current fiscal, R Chandramouli, senior vice president (sales and marketing), said today.

As the 100cc segment saw some loss of numbers in the last two quarters, the company is looking at refurbishing its presence with a new product, Chandramouli said. TVS currently has two models, Victor and Star in the budget segment.

"The company has set up a special team to oversee the expansion of the service centre network across the country, and expects a rise a in sales on the back of back it," he said, adding "We have identified 5,800 towns for the purpose and target 4,500 of them by 2008-09."

The company launched also launched its latest high-performance Apache RTR 160 in Pune on today. The vehicle is priced at Rs 56,376 ex-show room in Pune city.
